What Can We All Do to Help?
We at Harvest Co-op express our horror, sorrow, and outrage over
the loss of life and suffering the terrorist attacks have caused
Americans and other members of the world community. Harvest has
made a donation to the September 11 Relief Fund of the Cooperative
Development Foundation, set up by the National Cooperative Business
Association, see below.
Here are a few of the ways you can help right now:

September 11 Relief Fund for
Farmers
Please send a donation
On Tuesday, Sept. 11th, 2001, as the first plane hit the World Trade
Center in New York City, approximately 25 market farmers had their
produce displays set up at the WTC Greenmarket at Church and Liberty
Streets. These market farmers come in from Long Island and upstate
NY, NJ, PA and MA.
The WTC Greenmarket had opened as usual at 8 am.
It has been reported that all of the participating
farmers and their helpers made it out alive but most of them
lost all of their vehicles, displays, produce, cash and personal
belongings. Insurance coverage for these losses is limited at best.
Your help is desperately needed. Please assist the farmers who escaped
but are suffering due to Tuesday's tragedy.
Please write a check or money order payable to:
"Fund for the WTC Greenmarket Farmers" and send it to:

Ways that you can help
Aid to Victims
Many organizations are collecting funds for use in supporting the
relief
efforts now going on and in assisting the victims in rebuilding
their lives.
The need is so new that there is little detail on precisely how
the funds
will be used. Here are a few organizations which have mobilized
already.

Middle East Peace, Justice
and Reconciliation
Here are groups that are working for peace, justice and reconciliation
in the Middle East. Recognizing that nobody has yet claimed responsibility
for the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, these seven groups
all do important work. Please note that all work in this area is
risky and controversial. All are working on long term efforts that
hold some promise.
Working Assets does not specifically endorse the precise
approach of each of the groups - indeed, some are in conflict with
each other. May peace and compassion be our watchwords in the difficult
days, weeks and months ahead.
