ACT NOW!
There are three bills before the Massachusetts State Legislature
that concern Genetically Engineered foods. We need to contact our
state legislators to show support for these bills NOW!
S. (Senate) 1789 or H. (House) 3385 - LIABILITY
This liability legislation would hold the biotechnology corporations
(that are developing the technology) responsible for any adverse
effects related to economic loss (including protections for farmers),
human health (including antibiotic resistance), or the environment
(including soil destruction and insect resistance).
This bill is in the Senate Committee on Science
and Technology. Contact Senator Magnani (617-722-1640). It is also
in the Joint Committee on Natural Resources and Agriculture.

H. 2207 - MORATORIUM
An Act To Amend The Agriculture and Markets
Laws, In Relation To Genetically Modified Crops calls for a five-year
ban on the planting of generically engineered crops in Mass. IT
also directs the Department of Agriculture to set up a marketing
plan for Massachusetts agriculture which emphasizes a GE-free policy.
This bill is in the Joint Committee on Natural

H. 3252 - LABELING
This bill would require genetically engineered
food to be labeled at the state level. This would force food manufacturers
to label any products that contain genetically engineered ingredients.
