Buy organic. Many bulk, grocery, and produce items are organic—grown and/or made without synthetic pesticides and fertilizers. Many organically grown items are specially labeled either on the product itself, or on produce signs.

Buy bulk foods. At Harvest, grains, nuts, cereals, oils, honey and even soap, shampoo, and pet food can be purchased in bulk. Buying bulk is usually less expensive and allows you to buy as little or as much as you need. Here are some guidelines for buying in bulk:

Mark the product number on the container or the sticker provided in-store. Product numbers are clearly marked on signs on the front of bins or containers.
Weigh the container you bring from home so the weight can be deducted from the price of the food. A glass jar may weigh as much as a pound! Ask any cashier or deli counter staff to weigh your container for you.
Place a special order. You can special order cases of any product Harvest normally stocks, as well as any product available through one of our regular suppliers. Just complete a special order form at the Customer Service Desk.
Receive a case discount. You receive a 5% case discount on most grocery and Health and Beauty Aids items, 10% on bulk purchases, and 10% on cases of wine. Some sale items do not qualify for a case discount. Discounts for cases of produce items vary.
Reuse your bags. Harvest will refund five cents for every shopping bag you reuse, as well as for using a cloth shopping bag, backpack or other large bag of your own.
Get a rain check. Harvest guarantees the price for advertised products. You can receive a rain check for any sale product that is out-of-stock.
Guaranteed satisfaction. Harvest will refund the purchase price, or give another equivalent product, if you are not completely satisfied with a product. Please bring the item and your receipt within 30 days to Harvest.
Food Stamps and WIC’s: We accept Foods Stamps and WIC coupons in our Cambridge store. Jamaica Plain accepts food stamps, but unfortunately, WIC coupons are not accepted because we don’t have the space for all products required by the program.
Seniors and individuals with a disability can receive a special discount card for a 5% discount every day.
