We
Own It!
Not For Profit
Harvest Co-op is member owned, and has been for over 30 years.
When the Co-op opened, the motto was, "Food for People,
Not for Profit". This is still true today in the competitive
natural foods marketplace where national chains dominate.
The Co-op stands out because it is owned and controlled by
it's members. The big chains go to Wall Street when they need
capital for improvements. Harvest goes to the members down
the street. Its your community market, and your membership
counts.
Harvest creates a marketplace that supports
sustainable agriculture, fair trade practices, and local farmers
and food producers. Your membership supports these practices
and helps the stores purchase up to date equipment, pay for
necessary renovations, and offer better services. Your equity
helps keep Harvest financially healthy, which keeps "Food
for People, Not for Profit" available to the entire community.
