Growing up Co-op: Yogurt

Yogurt

Yogurt is a delicious, fast, easy-to-digest calcium choice.

Other great ways to add calcium to your diet:
Serve creamy soups, homemade or canned, made with milk or fat-free evaporated milk.

Because evaporated milk has twice the calcium of regular milk, it is a great way to boost calcium in food preparation. Try it in mashed potatoes, puddings, cream sauces, and more.

Enjoy dairy-based frozen desserts such as yogurt, ice cream, milk shakes, and smoothies.

Add low-fat cheese to mashed potatoes, pasta, sandwiches, sauces, and quickbreads.

Add nonfat milk powder to prepared soups, pancake batter, yeast breads or cream sauces.

Use calcium-rich tofu in recipes.

Eat more dark leafy green vegetables; they are a good source of calcium.

Buy foods fortified with calcium—cereals, frozen waffles, and breads are easy choices.

Try calcium-enriched beverages such as soymilk or orange juice.
