Growing up Co-op: Pizza

Pizza

Pizza options abound in the grocery store! That’s a good thing for kids, because most children love to eat pizza. What could be easier than popping a frozen pizza into the oven or microwave? Creating your own personal pizza is fun, too. And when kids choose their own ingredients and make it themselves, they’ll eat it with pride!

Assembling a pizza at home is a snap. Ready-made pizza crusts, frozen pizza dough, Bobolis, English muffins, bagels, tortillas, breads, and refrigerated doughs make convenient bases for ready-made sauces, pre-shredded cheeses and pre-cut or frozen vegetables. By making healthy choices for toppings, a pizza can be a complete meal. And as everyone knows, left-over pizza (if any!) tastes fabulous the next day for breakfast.

Refrigerated biscuit dough makes a good pizza base. These are super easy, and you can eat them any time, but making them for breakfast is especially good. You can get dressed for school while they bake!

1 tube refrigerated biscuits

1 cup mozzarella cheese, grated

1/2 cup pineapple chunks, drained

1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Open biscuits. On a cookie sheet, pat each biscuit gently into a little pizza. Top with some mozzarella cheese, a few pieces of pineapple, and sprinkle with a little Parmesan. Bake about 15 minutes until cheese is bubbly.
