Individuals and families who join the Co-op enjoy many benefits
of membership, including discounts on Co-op services, classes, Fedco
seed orders, and subscriptions to Consumer Reports magazine.
As a member of the Co-op, you also qualify for a discount on the
cost of insurance. A ten percent discount on homeowners insurance
has been available to members through several local insurance agencies
since 1984. Since then, over a thousand Co-op members have taken
advantage of this benefit, realizing significant savings. Maloney
Associates, 12 East South Street in Hanover, developed this benefit
and acts as Plan Administrator.
The Co-op has been working with Maloney Associates over the past
year to expand this program, and we are pleased to announce that,
in addition to the homeowners discount, they will now be able
to offer Co-op members a ten percent discount on auto insurance
as well.
"This is truly a tangible savings," explains Joe Maloney,
president of Maloney Associates. "Because auto premiums are
typically much higher than homeowner premiums, this translates into
correspondingly higher savings." Maloney estimates that for
the typical two-car family, savings would be between $100 and $150
per year, perhaps much higher based on the individuals rating
profile (for example, if your family includes teenaged drivers).
As an added advantage, a single package policy may be written to
include your primary and secondary homes, autos, watercraft, and
personal umbrella. Because it is written on a single policy, you
also get a single bill with flexible payment plans: annual, quarterly,
monthly, escrow billing, or Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT).
Members currently enrolled in this benefit will be contacted by
Maloney Associates prior to their next renewal and offered this
additional option. Members not currently taking advantage of this
benefit can contact Sue Bartlett at Maloney Associates via one of
the options outlined below.
Maloney Associates has been providing insurance coverage to its
clients throughout New England since 1969. In addition to Hanover,
they have offices in Manchester, Orford (River Valley Insurance)
and, through a joint venture, New London (Jillson Insurance Services).
Although the agency represents several fine insurance companies,
they worked closely with Peerless Insurance Company of Keene, NH
to develop this program expansion exclusively for Co-op members.
Some of the factors that influenced their decision were Peerless
local home office, competitive products and prices, and outstanding
service. Also, as a New Hampshire-based company, were told
they tend to take more of a common sense approach to insuring properties
in New England.
You can also access information
about this benefit through the Co-ops web site. Brochures
providing additional details are available at the Information Desks
in both the Hanover and Lebanon stores.
