What's New?

New Product News

newfoodIt’s September and time to decorate for fall! Our Floral staff have been working on autumn wreaths and dried flower arrangements, while local vendors Tanyard Farm and Cottonstone Farm will be delivering garden mums and ornamental cabbage and kale, as well as pumpkins and gourds.

We’ve all heard of greeting cards made from recycled paper, but how about Tree-Free Greeting Cards? These beautiful blank note cards are made from an annual plant called kenaf.

We may be approaching autumn, but that’s no reason to stop grilling. New to our barbecue section are "the world’s best" meat and fish rub seasonings from Pride of Szeged. These products also do wonders with grilled vegetables, either indoors or out.

Bob Weir, Grateful Dead singer and guitarist, has a passion for food second only to his passion for music. On breaks from touring, he bottled some of this passion into two special Asian-style stir fry sauces and two "turn up the heat" hot sauces: Otherworld Wok Sauce, Otherworld Hot Sauce, Snake Oil Stir Fry Sauce, and Snake Oil Hot Sauce. All net profits from the sales of Weir sauces go to "The Further Foundation" which supports the environment, the arts, children’s education, and homeless causes.

A new line of imported Italian condiments are here from Allessi: Garlic or Artichoke Pates, Eggplant or Artichoke Caponata Appetizers, and Black or Green Olive Pates. Also from Italy are three new Pasta Gusto Pesto Sauces made by Sacla. The best seller is the traditional Green Pesto Sauce, but for something different try Red Pesto and Olive & Tomato Pesto.

If you enjoy oyster crackers, Bradshaw "Family Style" Oyster Crackers offer two unique flavors: Garden Dill and Spicy Black Bean. They’re great right out of the box or in soups or salads.

Check out the Trout Spread, Salmon Spread, and Hot Smoked Atlantic Salmon from New England Smoked Seafood of Rutland, Vermont. These all natural products are hot-smoked over an applewood fire and contain no preservatives. You’ll find them pre-packaged in the seafood self-serve case.

Exciting things are happening in our dairy cases! We now carry glass bottled milk from Strafford Organic Creamery in Strafford, Vermont. Unlike ultra-pasteurized national organic brands, this locally bottled milk keeps its fresh flavor and richness. Even their skim milk is more full-bodied, coming from a herd of mostly Guernsey cows known for giving milk that is high in protein and beta-carotene.

"A little extra health insurance for women" is how Stonyfield Farm describes their new organic Yo Self Lowfat Yogurt. Yo Self features inulin, a natural dietary fiber clinically proven to increase calcium absorption. Like all Stonyfield Farm yogurts, this one is rBGH-free and 100 percent natural. It comes in multipacks of six 4-ounce containers, three each of Strawberry and Strawberry Banana, or of Crème Caramel and Chocolate.

For those who wish to increase their soy intake or to avoid dairy, Stonyfield offers O’Soy Organic Cultured Soy with inulin. High in calcium, O’Soy has no saturated fat, cholesterol, or lactose and is an excellent source of protein, antioxidants, and phytoestrogens. It comes in multipacks of six 4-ounce containers, three each of Chocolate and Vanilla, or of Strawberry and Peach.

Mountain Sun Organic Juice Beverages (Limeade, Peach, Pink Lemonade, Green Tea Ginseng, Kiwi Strawberry, Raspberry, and Apricot) contain no high fructose corn syrup, preservatives, artificial flavors, or colorings and now come in a single serve size (13.5 ounces). If you feel like sharing, try the 16-ounce T42 All Natural, Caffeine-Free Herbal Teas (Raspberry Rapture; Peach Perfect) and Green Tea with Lemon.
