New Product News

The Co-op’s buyers are continuously bringing in new products, and we’ve asked them to share a few of their favorites now available on Co-op shelves.

Our Seafood Departments are proud to offer ECO fish (tuna, wild Coho salmon, Pacific halibut) in frozen 6-oz. portions. These fish are harvested following ecologically responsible guidelines established by marine scientists and conservationists, with 25 percent of profits donated to support conservation of endangered species. Ask at the Seafood counter for more information.

Charras Tostados from Mexico (Natural, Chipotle, Jalapeño, and Onion) are back to stay, at long last! A big hit during this year’s Cinco de Mayo celebration, Charras Tostados are crispy, fresh-tasting, corn "plates."Great for serving your favorite taco fillings, Charras Tostados can also be eaten straight out of the bag like a "grande" corn chip!

A perfect companion for Charras Tostados are Mrs. Renfro’s Texas Salsas (Chipotle Corn, Black Bean, Peach, Habañero, Green, and Roasted). These salsas are bursting with Texas flavor and hospitality!

Olive lovers will welcome Divina Olives (Cracked Green, Greek Mix, Mount Pelion Black, and Pitted Kalamata), grown on the sunny hillsides of Greece, and Haddon House Chopped Olives and Sliced Ripe Olives with Jalapeños. Haddon House Artichoke Hearts, Artichoke Bottoms, and Hearts of Palm are great in summer salads and other dishes.

Our ever-expanding balsamic vinegar selection now includes Antico D'Este Balsamic Vinegar from Modena, an exceptional, 8-year aged balsamic vinegar with a velvety texture and sweet, rich balsamic flavor. Perfect for salads, meats, and even juicy ripe strawberries!

Ah Wu Chinese Sauces from Maggie Gin’s (Stir Fry, Ginger Lemon, Black Bean, and Chili Garlic) are a wonderful complement for stir fried vegetables, noodles, and fresh salads. With plenty of flavor and spice, they also can be used as a marinade and for basting your favorite meats and fish.

Recreating a Belgian classic, Terra Frites (say "freets") are a "new" and sensational crunchy potato-stick snack made from naturally buttery-tasting potatoes like European Binjte and American Yukon Gold.

We all need to drink more fluids, and several new products are here to make that easier to accomplish. Knudsen Hibiscus Cooler Juice is a great summer beverage made with all-natural ingredients that contains 61% juice. For a quick, tasty drink that’s good for you as well, pick up our new 16 oz. Dole Juices: Pineapple Citrus, Cranberry Grape, Ruby Red Grapefruit, Strawberry Banana, Cranberry Cocktail, Apple Juice, Strawberry Kiwi, Paradise, and Orange. Our bottled water selection has expanded to include half-pint Poland Spring Water in 8-packs, AquaFina water in 16.9 oz. 6-packs, Evian Nomad Spring Water in a 25-oz size with a sport top, and San Benedetto Sparkling Water from Italy.

In the Dairy coolers you’ll find Nantucket Nectars Lemonade and Iced Tea-Lemonade, made with fresh-squeezed lemons. While you’re there, pick up some Nancy’s Soy Yogurt in seven varieties, a cultured non-dairy soy treat. Berry’s Organic Eggs from Strafford, Vermont, come from free-range chickens fed with certified organic grains.

Our meat case includes chicken livers from free-range chickens fed organic grain and Boars Head Rico Picante Sausage in one-pound packages. You’ll also find new meat condiments from Deitz & Watson: Honey Mustard, Horseradish Sauce, and Sweet Vidalia Onion.

Of course, summer wouldn’t be summer without a Produce Department swelling with lettuce, spinach, green beans, summer squash, herbs, and corn picked fresh and hand-delivered by Upper Valley growers!

Our Co-op Kitchens are hard at work providing new salads (Curried Rice & Pecan Salad, Dried Fruit & Kashi Salad, Quinoa & Crystallized Ginger), new pasta sauces (Marinara, Fra Diavlo, and Puttanesca), and new chilled soups (Vegetable Gazpacho, Fruit Gazpacho) for the summer season. Spinach with Bacon is the newest grab and go garden salad, and don’t miss our Co-op-made all-meat Turkey and Ham Salads available pre-packed. Looking for a pizza for one or two people? Our new line of Take-n-Bake Pizzas come in an ovenable plastic baking dish.

The Co-op Bakery is taking orders through Catering Manager Lloyd Gabourel for special occasion and custom cakes, including wedding cakes. Or pick up one of our new pound cakes, including Pecan-Cardamom, Traditional, and Chocolate; a Chocolate Angel Food Cake; or a yummy Strawberry-Rhubarb Pie. And, speaking of strawberries, we’ve got the Shortcake Biscuits to make any summer fruit into a quick and tasty dessert with a minimum of effort.
