Helping Hands Build a Foundation for the Community

Thank you, one and all, for contributing to the success of the first fund-raising raffle benefiting the Hanover Cooperative Community Foundation (CCF)! We couldn’t have done it without our generous vendors and supporters who donated a wonderful selection of raffle prizes or without those of you who purchased raffle tickets.

We are on our way to raising $200,000 in principal by the year 2003. Our goal is to generate enough interest from that principal to fund the Co-op’s charitable giving program to local non-profits and to other cooperatives. Currently, funds for giving come directly from the Co-op’s bottom line.

Co-op members and shoppers are invited to donate directly to the foundation at any time, at the Service Desks, at the registers, or by mail. Donations can be sent to CCF, Hanover Co-op, PO Box 633, Hanover, NH, 03755.

For more information, or to volunteer to help fund-raise for the CCF, call the Board Administrator, Sue Wallace, at (603) 643-2667.

Thanks and congratulations to all of our winners! For a complete list, inquire at the Service Desk in either store.

Cadagren Handknits

As a community service, the Co-op allows local non-profit groups to raise funds in the lobbies of our stores. For many years, a cooperative group of Canaan, New Hampshire-based knitters known as Cadagren Handknits has sold its beautiful handmade items at the Co-op.

This past December, we were sorry to hear that the group was doing its last sale of handcrafted hats, scarves, and other woolen products. Recently, we were honored to receive this letter, along with a check for $500:

The Hanover and Lebanon Consumer Cooperatives have assisted Cadagren Handknits Cooperative in many ways since we were organized in October, 1988. You allowed us to set up a table in your stores many times to sell our handknitted items. We also received some funding to purchase supplies, etc.

Now we are disbanding and our members have voted to show some appreciation for your help by giving you some of our remaining funds. Perhaps you may wish to use them to help another group in a similar way.

Sincerely,
Barbara C. Eason,

Cadagren Handknits Coordinator

This generous contribution from our friends at Cadagren Handknits has been donated to the newly-formed Hanover Cooperative Community Fund (CCF), where it will continue to make a difference as part of the principle used to fund non-profit activities in the Upper Valley for years to come. We thank the members of the knitters’ cooperative for thinking of the Co-op.
