| The
many health benefits of wild Alaskan red (sockeye) salmon
are well known:
Low in saturated fat
Wild salmon is a great source of protein,
and it is significantly lower in saturated fats than beef,
or almost any other popular meat product.
Omega-3
And salmon is high in Omega-3, which
is known to help prevent heart disease. Evidence also links
Omega-3 fatty acids with lower levels of certain types of
cancer, and with resistance to depression, memory loss,
Alzheimer’s, and other medical conditions.
"Omega-3 fatty acids have so many
biological roles because they are a primary element of health
for virtually every cell and organ system in the body. Along
with their partners, the omega-6 fatty acids, they keep
our bodies in balance, modulating such basic physiological
functions as inflammation, cell signaling, blood pressure,
immune response, and the electrical excitability of heart
and brain cells." Andrew Stoll, Faculty, Harvard Medical
School
Drug-free Wild Salmon
Wild salmon is, of course, free from
growth hormones, biocides, artificial colorants, reprocessed
animal feeds, and other non-natural treatments.
The Natural Color of Wild Salmon
The beautiful red flesh of wild Alaskan
red (or Sockeye) salmon comes from carotenoids in the fish’s
diet, specifically from algae, shrimp, and other fish.
Low Levels of Contaminants in
Wild Salmon
Wild red salmon is approved for pregnant
women and nursing mothers. It does not contain significant
PCB levels. In fact most beef, as well as most other commercial
seafoods, have higher PCB levels than wild salmon. It is
also low in mercury.
If it is Alaskan, it’s Wild.
